What we do e-Learning is not distance on-line learning and it is not learning without a tutor. However it is all about making good opportunities for learning and using technology to do so.

Other terms are used throughout the education sector. e.g.

ICT - Information Communications Technology
ILT
- Information Learning Technology

E-LEARNING covers all of these and can simply be stated as any kind of learning that is supported or enriched by the use of digital technologies - in any form. This could be via computer, mobile phone, personal digital assistant (PDA), Interactive TV or any other means which uses modern digital technology. And it covers all areas of learning

H.E - Higher Education - Universities
F.E - Further Education (including 6th Form Colleges) - these often include aspects of:
ACL
- Adult and Community Learning (info - link 1 and link 2)
WBL - Work Based Learning
VLE - Virtual Learning Environment. Technology which allows the tutor to put resources, learning activities, materials etc. 'online' for access around the clock. Good examples might also track learner use and competence. Examples of VLE are: Moodle; WebCT; Blackboard
